FFP training for indigenous people from the Resguardo La Teófila in Solano, Caquetá
As part of the Land at Scale project, which seeks to support different communities in land administration processes, Kadaster conducted training in Florencia for nine indigenous people from the La Teófila indigenous reservation, located in Solano, Caquetá, including a Coreguaje woman from the La Teófila reservation.
Representatives of the Coreguaje and Makaguajes ethnic groups learned how to measure their territories through the FFP approach with the objective of having a more complete and accurate representation of the reality of the territory, ensuring that the information collected is relevant and usable for the process of expansion and constitution of the Resguardo. Currently, the information registered in the official databases presents inconsistencies with the actual location of the resguardo, which generates problems for the expansion processes.
The Resguardo community actively participated in the proposed exercises, acquiring the necessary skills to carry out the survey themselves. Kadaster, in addition to the training, lent GNSS equipment so that the communities can measure and collect spatial data on the boundary and expansion of the Resguardo La Teófila. Field measurements will be carried out using Esri's FieldMaps application, and once completed, socialization will be organized to observe the results.
The project seeks to provide tools for collecting spatial information in an autonomous manner to the indigenous communities so that they can manage their territory, also contributing to providing land tenure security.
